Break your resolution down to daily tasks
Instead of just saying I want to lose weight, break that down into daily or weekly habits that you will commit to stick with (it could be helpful to give your self a time frame, and hopfully after that it will be habit anyways). You might say, I will do a 30 minute youtube workout every second day, walks every other day, a green smoothie daily, large salad everyday..... these are some of mine ;)
Prepare
In order to stick with it, it's also necessary to prepare. Have your workout clothes ready for that first thing in the morning workout - this means you have made it a little more conveneint but also you have mentally prepared/decided to do it. Have a large salad or soup made and ready to go in the fridge for when you are hungry but don't have time...or energy to cook. Have your green smoothie ingredients bought and ready to go. Have a time in your schedule planned for your workout. Plan your meals for the week. Another trick is each evening to plan for the day ahead, even if just mentally, what you will eat.
Know your WHY and keep reminding yourself of your WHY
What is your why for losing weight or for getting healthy. Often just looking good isn't a big enough why. For me it's having more energy so I can enjoy my days with my kids, or that it makes me happier and a better, more emotionally stable mom. Maybe it is to be a good role model for your child, or to prevent disease and be around to play with your grandkids. One of my why's is actually to look good in a lululemon top I got...but I also have a bigger why. So think about your why and write it down. Remind yourself of it daily, especially when you feel like giving in.
Have a friend or online community to help keep you motivated and accountable
It's proven that you are more likely to succeed when you have an accountability partner or group and when you share your goal with others. If you are looking for a community of moms encouraging each other to get healthy and feel better, come on over to our private facebook group, Mama Recharged.
(Bonus) Do a vision board
I like to use pictures and quotes that I have on pinterest that make me happy and inspire me. Either copy and past or right click the picture, save to desktop then drag to a word or pages doc. Have your vision board in a place you will see it every day. I have one on my closet wall and one at my desk. Here are a couple of my past boards. I do an new one every 6 months or so.
Let's do this mama!
