I'm currently doing the 7 day Ready Set Glow detox from Hol-Fit. I love the format of this detox. It is a little more gentle. I don't think I could handle a fast but this seems do-able. The plan behind this detox is; a juice in the morning, a smoothie or pureed soup for lunch, a nourishing afternoon snack and a supper from the approved list. Foods to avoid for the 7 days are meat, dairy, gluten, refined sugar, coffee, processed food, unsoaked nuts... By not eating anything solid until the afternoon, you are giving your digestive system a break. The abundance of greens are detoxifying and lots of water helps to clear the toxins out. 5:30 am: large glass of warm lemon water with cinnamon and dash of cayenne. I like to get up early and have some quiet time before the kids get up. I find that I am rejuvenated when I do that. If not, I lose my patience easily. 6:30 am: Green Juice! 10:00 am: Tea. I'm a little hungry already. We decided to stop at the park so a warm cup of tea was nice.....it's no coffee, but still comforting. 11:00: Pureed Soup. I can't wait till lunch so let's say 11:00 is the new noon. I pre-made a big batch of butternut squash soup yesterday. It's really nice on a cool day. I ate a couple bowls full. 1:00 pm: Orange Creamsicle Shake - orange, banana, hemp, soaked almonds, water. No solid food till 2 and I was hungry early. This was really good! 3:00 pm: Afternoon snack - Apple, pb, cinnamon, seed crackers. I love this cracker recipe. I switch it up and do sweet rather than savoury. I omit seasonings and add raisins and salt. 6:00 pm: Supper is a hippie bowl- Sprouted rice blend from Costco, soaked walnuts, chickpeas and veg with a drizzle of olive oil, squirt of lemon juice and sea salt. 9:00 pm: Relaxing bath and a mango ginger smoothie So far so good. No headache. I've been off coffee for about a week already so maybe my symptoms won't be so bad now. I'll let you know in a couple days.
